Consultation area

Child health

Age-appropriate consultations with guidance for parents and caregivers.

An individualised consultation.

A child consultation is centred on the child’s current concern, development, history and the parent or caregiver’s observations. It does not replace paediatric assessment, immunisation or emergency care.

What the consultation may cover

  • The current concern, timing and changes noticed
  • Birth, development and relevant past medical history
  • Current medicines, allergies and advice already received

What to bring

A parent or legal guardian should attend. Bring the child’s prescriptions, reports and immunisation information when relevant.

When to seek urgent care

Seek urgent paediatric care for trouble breathing, bluish colour, seizures, severe dehydration, unusual drowsiness, a very unwell child, a non-blanching rash, or any concern that feels urgent to you.

Your safety matters.

This website provides general information, not diagnosis or emergency care. Do not stop, start or change prescribed medicines without advice from the appropriate treating clinician. For an emergency, seek immediate help from local emergency services or the nearest hospital.
